What is kopyPasta?
kopyPasta is a privacy-first clipboard manager for Mac, iPhone and iPad.
It helps you save, search, organize and reuse copied content such as text, links, images, files, PDFs, code snippets, colors, emails, phone numbers, JSON and much more.
Your clipboard history can sync across your Apple devices through your private iCloud.
Which devices does kopyPasta support?
kopyPasta supports:
macOS 14.0 Sonoma or later
iOS 17.0 or later
iPadOS 17.0 or later
It is one universal app for Apple platforms.
Do I need to create an account?
No.
kopyPasta does not require an account, login, registration or subscription account. Sync works through your own Apple iCloud account.
Does kopyPasta collect my data?
No.
kopyPasta does not collect any user data. We do not operate third-party servers for your clipboard data.
Your clipboard history is stored locally on your device and when iCloud sync is available is synced through your private iCloud.
Does kopyPasta use third-party services?
No.
kopyPasta does not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, tracking tools or external servers.
How does iCloud sync work?
kopyPasta syncs your clipboard history through your private iCloud using Apple’s CloudKit infrastructure.
This means your data is synced using your Apple ID and your private iCloud storage, not through Blackgem OÜ servers.
If iCloud is unavailable, disabled or you are not signed in, kopyPasta continues working in local-only mode.
Does kopyPasta detect credit card numbers?
Yes.
kopyPasta can detect credit card numbers locally on your device using validation checks. Detected card numbers are marked as sensitive and masked in the interface.
For example, a card number may appear as:

Credit card detection can be turned off in settings.
Does kopyPasta work without iCloud?
Yes.
If iCloud is unavailable, kopyPasta keeps working locally on your device. Your clipboard history will remain on that device only until iCloud sync becomes available again.
Why is my clipboard history not syncing?
Please check the following:
Make sure you are signed in to iCloud on all devices.
Make sure iCloud Drive is enabled.
Make sure kopyPasta has permission to use iCloud.
Open kopyPasta settings and check the sync status.
Use Sync Now if available.
Make sure all devices are connected to the internet.
Confirm that you are using the same Apple ID on each device.
If sync still does not work, restart the app and check again.
Can I stop kopyPasta from capturing content from certain apps?
Yes, on macOS.
You can add apps to the excluded apps list. Clipboard content copied from excluded apps will not be captured by kopyPasta.
This is useful for password managers, secure notes, banking apps, private work tools or any app you do not want included in clipboard history.
Does kopyPasta automatically capture clipboard items on iPhone and iPad?
On iPhone and iPad, kopyPasta captures clipboard content while the app is open and active.
Due to iOS and iPadOS privacy rules, apps cannot silently monitor the clipboard in the background. You may also see Apple’s system paste notification when clipboard content is accessed.
Does kopyPasta automatically capture clipboard items on Mac?
Yes.
On Mac, kopyPasta can monitor your clipboard and save copied items automatically while silently running in the background.
What types of content can kopyPasta save?
kopyPasta can save and organize many clipboard content types, including:
Text, Rich text, URLs, Code, Credit card numbers, Files, Images, PDFs, ZIP archives, DMG disk images, Colors, Email addresses, Phone numbers, JSON
Some content types are detected automatically and shown with their own icon.
Are pinned items deleted automatically?
No.
Pinned items stay saved and are not removed by normal history pruning. They remain at the top of your clipboard history until you unpin or delete them.
Does kopyPasta classify passwords?
No.
kopyPasta does not classify passwords.
For extra privacy, Mac users can exclude password managers and other sensitive apps from clipboard capture so copied content from those apps is not saved.
Can I export my clipboard history?
Yes.
kopyPasta supports export to: JSON, CSV, Plain text.
Sensitive credit card numbers remain protected during export.
Can I delete my clipboard history?
Yes.
You can delete individual clips or clear your full clipboard history.
Please note that if iCloud sync is enabled, clearing history on one device will also clear it on your other synced devices.
What is the global hotkey on Mac?
The default global hotkey is: Control + Space
You can customize it in the app settings. This opens kopyPasta quickly from anywhere on your Mac.
What is deduplication?
kopyPasta avoids saving duplicate copies of the same item.
If you copy the same content again, kopyPasta moves the existing item back to the top instead of creating a duplicate.
Can I search my clipboard history?
Yes.
You can search saved clipboard items and notes. On Mac, the full history window gives you a searchable list with a detail pane.
Can I add notes to clips?
Yes.
You can add a note to any saved clip. Notes are searchable and sync across devices when iCloud sync is available.

Can I import clipboard history?
Yes.
kopyPasta can import from JSON, CSV and plain text files.
Why are some large files not saved?
kopyPasta has configurable file size limits to keep the app fast and reliable.
The default maximum file size is 25 MB and it can be adjusted in settings from 1 MB to 50 MB.
Can I change the app appearance?
Yes.
kopyPasta supports:
System appearance
Light mode
Dark mode
Why does iPhone show a paste notification?
This is a standard iOS privacy feature.
When an app accesses clipboard content, iOS may show a paste banner or notification. This is controlled by Apple’s operating system.
What happens if I reach the history limit?
kopyPasta keeps your clipboard history within your configured history cap.
The default limit is 2,500 items and it can be adjusted from 100 to 5,000 items.
Older unpinned items are removed first. Pinned items are not removed automatically.
How do I report a bug?

Include your device, operating system version, app version and a short explanation of what happened.
Screenshots are helpful, but please avoid sending private clipboard content unless necessary.
